Chapter2: The relationship between FPS and Hz in LED display

2024 08/20

The refresh rate of LED display, also called “visual refresh frequency”, “refresh frequency”, refers to the number of times per second that the display screen is repeated by the display screen, the unit is Hz (Hz). The refresh rate is an important index that characterizes the stability of LED display, the higher the refresh rate of LED display, the more stable the display, the less visual flicker, in other words, the better the protection of eyesight.

What are the refresh rates of LED display?

There are three refresh rates for full color LED display, 1920Hz, 3840Hz, 1920Hz is called normal refresh and 3840Hz is called higher refresh. 3840Hz is the refresh rate for Our Micro LED Display, Indoor LED Display series products. Our Outdoor LED Display and Stage Rental LED Display series have two refresh rates to choose from: 1920Hz or 3840Hz.

What is the refresh rate of LED display related to?

Among the core components of LED display - LED power supply, LED driver chip and LED beads, the LED driver chip has a greater impact on the refresh rate of the screen. When using ordinary driver chip, the refresh rate can only reach 960Hz, while using dual-latch driver chip can significantly increase the refresh rate of LED display, and using HD high-level PWM driver chip can make the refresh rate of LED display reach 3840Hz.

What's the difference between LED display with normal brush and high brush?

As long as the refresh rate of LED display is higher than 960Hz, the human eye basically can't distinguish it. High-brush and universal brush full-color LED display screen is almost indistinguishable with the naked eye when playing video and pictures, but it can be distinguished through cell phones and high-definition camera and video equipment shooting.

The screen with universal brush will have water ripples when taking pictures with cell phone, and the screen looks flickering, while the screen with high brush will not have water ripples.

What is the appropriate refresh rate for LED display?

The refresh rate of LED display depends on the usage of the screen and the environment. If it is indoor full color LED display, 1920Hz (general brush) can meet the demand, if you want to use it to take pictures and videos, then it is recommended to use 3840Hz high brush as much as possible.
